Back in Lago Vista!!

Tuesday January 31, 2012

The last few days we have spent unpacking, settling in and grocery shopping. We have to be careful when grocery shopping though; it seems that every time we get back here and go grocery shopping we end up getting sent out to a storm and have to put everything we can into the freezer so it doesnt go bad:)

Gene and Annie invited us over tonight to hang out and have dinner with them. They served us delicious steak and potatoes! It was so much fun seeing them again and hearing about what they have been up to since we left. It's nice having people we know near by; it's great to be able to see familiar faces and not feel completely out on our own with no one around!

February 1, 2012 WHAT? Aaron Newman comes to visit LAGO VISTA?!?

Ben's best friend, roommate and best man flew in today to spend the weekend with us. Aaron works for Delta so he gets to travel a little bit when he isnt working; we were just fortunate enough that he wanted to come stay in a funny little place called Lago Vista, Tx!

So... since Ben and I have only lived in Texas a total of about 3 weeks, we had no idea where to take Aaron on his visit since we are also still tourists ourselves. Lucky for us, Aaron enjoys playing tour guide and finding different places and things to see when he travels! So he helped us find some fun places to visit in Austin and that is what we spend Thursday and Friday afternoon doing.

We had to begin the day off right,so  we went off in search for some REAL Texas BBQ and had Ruby's for lunch

Notice the cat to the left of Ben on the table... he made a friend while dining at Ruby's.

After lunch we made a quick stop over to satisfy our sweet tooth with some gilati frozen custard at Rita's

Next we headed to the Capital building ( it is straight ahead above the Taxi...)

On Friday we headed back out into Austin and stopped off on some trails and a nature center

Turned out the Nature Center was also some sort of preschool for children with a fossil pit! So Ben and Aaron are digging for fossils.

What is a visit to Texas without some quality Tex Mex? We stopped at Chuy's for lunch on Friday

Then headed in to explore downtown Austin. I had never seen a back-in angle parking only sign before... It made for an interesting parking lot alongside the main street.

And we stopped in a few shops along the street. Ben wanted to take this one home for the apartment, unfortuantely we didnt have enough space for it.

After our adventurous afternoons in Austin, we spent the nights with Aaron hanging out in the pool, hot tub, playing ticket to ride and ending the nights watching good old netflix movies. We enjoyed having him stay with us and hopefully he didnt mind sleeping on our blow up mattress, in the middle of our living room which we called his "guest bedroom".
