4th of July in Washington DC

Hello there!

As some of you may now know, we are no longer working in Texas.  Last Saturday (June 30) we finished up work in Dallas, quickly drove down to Lago Vista, unloaded and reloaded our stuff long enough to visit Kimmie, Shaina and the kids in San Antonio for a few hours! It was quite the amount of driving but VERY worth it to spend quality (short) time with family!:) We had literally JUST arrived in San Antonio on Sunday morning around 10:00am (it takes about 2.5 hours to drive there from our place) and we were planning on going to church with them, hanging out there for the day, spending the night. We were so excited for the fun day ahead when we got the email at about 10:05 saying we had to head to Richmond, Virginia ASAP on that day.  What a bummer! So we stayed back from church and just hung out for a few hours in San Antonio... Poor Kimmie comes all the way to Texas and all we can do is hang out with her for a few hours:( But again, we were so glad to see them!

Around 1:00pm we said our goodbyes and headed back to Lago Vista to pack the truck up and head on our long journey out East. (We weren't thrilled about working in this new place, the last time we worked on the East coast we ran into a LOT of steep and high roofs... not the best, that's for sure!) The Sunday drive went fast and we didn't stop until about 3:00am! Ben had a bit of mountain dew and came into his second wind I guess! We didnt see the point in paying for a hotel for 3 hours so we just found a rest stop and got a few hours of sleep before heading out around 6:00am.

After a 22 hour drive from Lago Vista to Virginia we arrived at about 6:00pm. Ben and Todd went to the meeting the next morning and found out we would be working in Bethesda, Maryland... and that is where we landed! I found this apartment online that we could rent short term... it has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a den, a full kitchen and a living room space... it's been a very fun place to stay! Todd is staying here with us, and it feels a little bit like a vacation stay, not like the typical hotels we stay at:) And on the plus, we dont really worry about bed bugs here! It is very clean and well kept. Here is a peak:

Here is the "family" room... where the guys do their work on the claims

Here are the men hard at work! (Todd said that the back of his head was smiling...)

The "family" room looking the other way, and where we get to watch movies on the couch! ( normally we just have a bed to watch movies on)

The beautiful kitchen! :)

The master bedroom where Ben and I sleep

The master bathroom

I didnt take a picture of Todd's room, bathroom or the den, but those are also here and we get a washer and dryer! We have been blessed and are loving staying at this place!

To celebrate the 4th of July we figured it would be such a neat experience to get to see the fireworks display that they set off in Washington D.C.  However, we figured there would be quite the crowd and craziness there, so we found a spot nearby where we could still see the fireworks, but without all the busyness. Todd still had a bit of work to do, so after dinner Ben and I ventured out to find our prime watching spot (not until AFTER we stopped by the grocery store for some vanilla ice cream and oreos!) We found a spot on a hill and had our cookies and cream ice cream and watched the fireworks, it was a fun 4th of July:)

Oreos and ice cream:)
