We caved... and got a puppy

For those of you who read my last post... I explained how we literally stumbled upon this opportunity to buy a Miniature Golden Doodle. This is the dog that I have wanted to get, but didnt really think it would be possible because of how expensive they normally are. However, when we met Bob and Nancy, the breeders from a small town in Iowa, they were selling their puppies at a much lower price than anywhere else.  We also got to meet the puppies mom and dad, and play with the puppies... obviously that is when we fell in love.

Afterwards, Ben and I took a week going back and forth trying to figure out whether or not we wanted BOTH a new puppy and a baby within the same couple of weeks. The owners said they allow their puppies to leave at 7 weeks, which puts us only TWO weeks away from the due date of baby Logan to train this new puppy as much as possible before baby arrives... they would both be VERY new to us at about the same time. At one point we decided no... and then we just kept coming back to really desiring this dog for our family and our kids, and we knew that if this wasnt the opportunity, we probably would not end up getting this kind of a dog later down the road. We finally came to the agreement that we are OK with it being completely crazy the first few months with our huge learning curve for both the puppy and baby. We are going into it knowing full well we are slightly crazy, but I think it also helps that our expectations are already set for a wild and crazy ride... and we are still so excited!

So here is Sadie Logan, she is 7 weeks old and has already stolen our hearts!

One of her many favorite spots to ride in the truck:)
Daddies little driving buddy!

Sometimes she has a hard time getting comfortable in the truck... so she has recently discovered that she likes to crawl up behind our back and lay up between our neck and the head rest... like a cat?

We are so excited about how she has been doing so far! She loves her kennel, sleeps through the night, but Ben or I will wake up once in the early morning and let her out and she is always just sitting there waiting for us, but never whining. I have been amazed at how good she has been, especially adjusting to her kennel and to us! She is starting to walk well on her leash,  She has had a few accidents, but has also been really good about potty training, So... SO far, she has lived up to the expectation of being smart and easy to train...but we will see how it continues to go. Now the task is mostly to get her to stop biting us and everything in site:)

In other news... we finished up work in McCook, Nebraska and they didnt have anywhere else for us to go at the current time, so we headed up to Minnesota and are planning to stay here until the baby is born! I am so excited and relieved about this... mostly because now I know where this little one will be born and we know exactly where the hospital is! So that is a huge answer to prayer and it will be great to be by some of our family and friends!

Hanging out with the niece and nephew out by the pool... uncle Benny is getting great practice:)

This was the sweetest thing, I was sitting on the kitchen floor and my 11 month old niece crawled over to me and just rested her little head on my belly and cuddled with me there for a while. I soaked up every second!
And last but certainly not least... no NEW news of baby Logan... Only 9 days until the due date, and so far there have been no contractions or false signs of labor. I went to the doctor last week and was dilated to 1 1/2... so now we are just ready and anxiously waiting to meet this precious little miracle, and praying for a smooth and fast delivery:)

That's all for now! Maybe the next post will be introducing you to our new little sweetie! (Hopefully!)
