Philly Cheesesteak anyone???

September 11, 2011-
Early this morning Ben and I decided that we were going to go to Philadelphia after work. Since we are SO close to so many different things, we figured we have to get out there and see a few while we can. So we went to work and then headed into Philadelphia for the rest of the afternoon. We stopped at a Starbucks for Ben to right up the claims and once he was finished we began walking around the city. We realized as we were walking and seeing a ton of cops and security armed with weapons, that September 11 may not have been the best day to travel to Philadelphia, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our time.
Yay! We added another state to the list:)

Where they were having the remembrance speeches for 9/11
We walked over to see the Liberty Bell and right outside were some congressmen and women giving tribute and talking about 9/11. So we sat down on the grass with many other people and listened for a while. Once they were done talking, we headed down the street to find the best cheesesteak. Apparently that is THE THING to get when you are in Philly, so we had to have that as part of our experience.

This one's for you dad!

Ben was extremely excited about his philly cheesesteak

Cheesesteaks here we come!

Ben asked one security guard where the best place was to get a cheesesteak and he sent us just a few blocks down the street to a small restaurant right along Main Street called Sonny's. We ordered the original with onions, peppers, provolone cheese and sat outside along the busy street to eat it. It was a really fun experience, but I probably wouldn’t rave about their cheesesteaks. I might need to try another place sometime and see how it compares, but I wasn’t super impressed with it. Sorry to all those cheesesteak lovers out there, but I’m definitely open to giving it another shot!  Once we finished eating we headed back home since it was already getting late and we had work the next morning.

My first ever Philly Cheesesteak!
